Cardio today. I spent some time running intervals and then finished off with 30 minutes of steady state on the treadmill. The total time to day was 60 minutes. |

Now is the right time. |

M6:D17 (D495) Work harder, work stronger
It is true. The harder you work the harder it gets. The harder it gets the stronger you get. This applies to most everything. Every time you work hard at something you get better at it. The better you get at something the harder it becomes to improve. At the same time, the harder you work at something the stronger you get at it. This is just an unwritten rule of life. Take this concept and apply it to your training. Don’t settle for “good enough.” Push yourself to the bitter end. Don’t leave the station until you’ve done every rep possible. If someone asks you “How many reps should I do?” answer them by saying “All of them!” Such a simple, yet overlooked concept—doing all the repetitions. This means going to failure. Going until you cannot go any more. That’s how you know you did all the repetitions. Give it a try the next time you are at the gym. Forget about the 8-12 rep range some “expert” suggested, just do all the repetitions you have in you and you can rest assured that you worked your hardest that day. (Related Topic: M6 |

I had an awesome cardio session today. I’m not sure what possessed me, but I did intervals for 30 minutes, running at a speed of 8.5 mph for 1 minute followed by walking at 3.5 mph for 1 minute. I then did another 30 minutes walking at 4.0 mph with an incline of 5%. I was dripping with sweat by the time I was done. I’m in fat burning mode all the way! |

M6:D14 (D492) My Training Philosophy Explained
For a long time now I have had my training philosophy in the sidebar of my blog, but I have never truly explained what it means and why I have it as a philosophy. Today I will give it my best shot.
At first glance my philosophy doesn’t seem to make alot of sense, but when broken down and thought through, it makes perfect sense. The fact is that I believe you can never really work hard enough. You should always be striving to do better and better with your lifts at the gym. Yes, you did the best you could at that very moment, but as soon as you walk away from that piece of equipment you know in your head that you will do more the next time you meet that piece of equipment. Progression demands it of you. If you hit the gym the next time and do less than you did previously, you are simply cheating yourself. As a result of the principle of progression you will always be able to go harder than you did the previous time at the gym. Anything less is robbing yourself of future results. The next time you hit the gym remember that you can never work hard enough because you can always go harder than you just did. |
