I am sure that when you read the title of today's post you immediately thought of body building. If you didn't, what's wrong with you? At the same time, if you didn't think of body building you were on the right track because I'm talking about the Pose Running Technique (http://www.posetech.com). This is something my doctor mentioned to me today. After examining me today (post run) she notes that my quads get extremely over stimulated from running. This eventually causes an imbalance in my hips and my entire lower body. She now has me doing foam rolling (feels great), more stretching (also feels great) and working on the Pose Running Technique. For those runners out there, take a look at the free videos on the site. They show you how to do the technique and why it works. It allegedly helps to avoid injury. My doctor says that this technique helps avoid the imbalances I am currently causing myself. The good news is that I can now resume running, but I have to work hard to stick to this technique. Apparently I am stressing out my calves way too much when I run and that's causing the problems I've been having. Now, for those of you who thought of body building when you read the title, that's the second part of today's post. Did you know that posing was a third of the score in body building competitions in the mid-80's and now it is only about 10%? Why would that be the case? Body building is supposed to be about how you show off your body. That's what posing is all about. So why drop the score down to 10% of the total? I am going to work heavily on my posing technique. I am in what you would call “pre-competition mode” because honestly, I have no desire to compete in a body building show, I want to win my division in a body building show. To do that I need to be at my best in every area. That's what I'm working on. I am alerting you all that my reveal is being delayed until August 1, 2008. This is necessitated by the fact that I will be on a business trip to Boston on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of next week, so doing my reveal on Thursday night when I get home is not what I want to do. Thus, I will delay it just 1 single day further. No, it is not for suspense. |

I had an intense morning workout session today. I maintained strict form on every exercise, maximizing time under tension. I was completely wasted at the end of the workout. The addition of a little more carbs this week seems to be helping the workouts alot. I had energy throughout the workout today. It was pretty incredible. |

Proper technique is important for so many reasons. Failing to adhere to proper technique can bring on hidden problems that you might never totally be aware of. |
