![]() Today I started a great new program and the first week involves training similar to Metabolic Surge's Lactic Acid Training. There are details below, but suffice to say that my shoulders are blasted right now. Thank you everyone who responded to my post about being selfish or not. You all had some really great advice/compliments/viewpoints. I truly appreciate the support. Honestly, I was more shocked by the statement than anything else and at first you do spend some time doubting, but as Carlos DeJesus has stated, you must “not to try to convince this person that they are wrong, it would take too much time and energy, something you might better invest into one of your workouts.” That is a profound statement to me and it brings up an issue in my mind that I am about to discuss with all of you. Alot of things take time and energy away from our workouts. There are family obligations, work obligations, illnesses, distractions, lack of motivation, not enough time, lack of accountability, failure to plan and so many other things. The way you deal with these things will determine how successful your workouts really are. Everyone knows that consistency is the key to great results and all the things I listed are things that can derail you on your path towards your ideal physique. Never let these things take time and energy away from your workouts. Make it a point to stomp these things out before they get out of control. I've been guilty in the past of getting distracted by personal issues. However, the last two times I've had personal issues I've turned them into energy enhancers. I've used the bad energy that I would have expended worrying about the problem and turned it into a new motivational force for myself. Anyone can do it if they put their mind to it. Alot of what “happens” to us is a choice we make. In fact, I'd venture to say that most of what happens to us is either a choice we make or a reaction to a choice someone else makes. Either way, we have the ultimate choice in how the outcome will be shaped. It is how we react that determines our future course. Make the right choice and the rest of it never mattered. |

![]() As mentioned previously, I started Advanced Mass Builders workout plan today. The entire first week is similar to Lactic Acid Training from Metabolic Surge but the major difference is that you pick one body part, two exercises and you superset them, but you take no rest between exercises or sets. You find a weight for each exercise that you can complete 50 reps with on the first set. You pound out that set quickly, move to the next exercise immediately and pound that set out quickly, back to the first exercise, etc. until you complete 12 sets of each exercise. That's 24 sets total. You take every set to positive failure, so the number of reps you can completely steadily goes down as the sets progress. When I left the gym I had a hard time lifting my arm up enough to start my car. My shoulders are already burning with DOMs. It was an incredible pump during the workout. |
