M5:D10 (D418) Reaction or distraction?

What's on my mind today?

Once again I've been thinking about why people don't stick to their plans for a very long time.  I got some very interesting comments from my previous article on the topic.  It seems that people are extremely interested in this topic based upon the interaction I've had.

I believe that there are two major reasons (among many others) that people veer off their plans–reaction and distraction.

Reaction

People are very excited after they create a plan.  They just know they are going to see massive results.  They plan a 12 week attack and then get to work on executing it.  After about 2 weeks they don't feel like they've seen any results.  They get down on themselves and begin to react to their situation.  This reaction takes them right off course.  Instead of riding things out to see what will happen, they make a change at the wrong time.  I can personally attest to the need to stay the course.  I was not seeing alot of results after 2 weeks of my first H.I.T. cycle, but I stuck with it and ended up with massive results.  You have to trust in your plan and not react prematurely.

Distraction

People get involved in a plan that is 12 weeks long (or more).  As they execute the plan, things start to pop up that take away their attention from the plan.  They begin to lose focus and start to head off down a different path.  Sometimes this happens purposely and other times it happens by momentum.  In either case, continually reassessing where you are in the plan is the solution.  If you are really bad about sticking to a plan do some daily analysis.  Review your nutritional choices daily.  Ask yourself if you are making choices that are good for your progress or bad for your progress and then adjust accordingly.  It really is that simple.
