M6:D14 (D492) My Training Philosophy Explained

What's on my mind today?

For a long time now I have had my training philosophy in the sidebar of my blog, but I have never truly explained what it means and why I have it as a philosophy.  Today I will give it my best shot.

You can never work hard enough because you can always go harder than you just did. – Michael Mahony, The Fat Burning Muscle Building Machine

At first glance my philosophy doesn’t seem to make alot of sense, but when broken down and thought through, it makes perfect sense.

The fact is that I believe you can never really work hard enough.  You should always be striving to do better and better with your lifts at the gym.  Yes, you did the best you could at that very moment, but as soon as you walk away from that piece of equipment you know in your head that you will do more the next time you meet that piece of equipment.  Progression demands it of you.  If you hit the gym the next time and do less than you did previously, you are simply cheating yourself.

As a result of the principle of progression you will always be able to go harder than you did the previous time at the gym.  Anything less is robbing yourself of future results.  The next time you hit the gym remember that you can never work hard enough because you can always go harder than you just did.
