M3:D71 Return to form

July 23, 2008 By Michael Mahony, ISSA CPT Leave a Comment

What's on my mind today?

What does it take to get back to your previous form?  Unfortunately, if I were to get back to my previous form all it would take is for me to stop exercising and stop eating right.  That's right, it only takes a small slip backwards to return to form.  This is why I stay focused on all my goals.  I don't want to return to my previous form.  It didn't work for me then and it isn't going to work for me now.  I know this.

At the same time, some people think that they can work at this only half the time and still see great results.  These people tend to focus on topics and symptoms.  They don't understand that there is a greater principle at work.  The topics they focus on and the symptoms they focus on relate to the greater principle, but they are not directly the greater principle.  It really boils down to one thing when you think about it.

I mean why did you eat that candy bar when nobody was watching?  Were you really that hungry that you just had to eat the wrong thing?  What if you are short on time and think you should skip your workout?  What if you forgot your food and you are hungry?  Do you give in and eat junk food?  What do you do?

You figure out the answer to the following question:

Does this thing I'm about to do bring me closer to my desired end result?

By answering this question you avoid long discussions and excuses.  Make sure you recognize this as you go forward and you will be safe.

I was actually able to run today per doctor's orders.  I ran just one mile to test my leg.  It held up great. I see the doctor tomorrow and I am interested in what she has to say about this.
