Mission 1, Day 55: Mellow is the word of the day

December 20, 2007 By Michael Mahony 0 Comments

Today was a weird, but mellow day.  First, I had to re-record the podcast and it didn't record.  It was a completely empty sound file.  I am going to uninstall and reinstall the recorder software and give it another try tomorrow.  Hang in there.  I know you are dying to hear the next episode

I am working on my surprise for the blog.  Hopefully it isn't anti-climactic for all of you when I release it.

I spent the morning at the gym doing my cardio.  Tomorrow I will hit the gym for my squat and deadlift workout.  I love that workout the most.

Normally I hit the scale once a week, but I decided to check out my stats and already I've lost another 3 pounds.  I'm down to 222.  I've lost 14 pounds in 4 weeks and I'm on a roll ever since I moved over to the Metabolic Surge nutrition program.  It just makes sense and it is pretty easy for me to follow.  Yeah, there are some odd aspects of it, but overall, it is quite easy to follow for me.  I find myself eating alot of chicken breast and lettuce along with other green veggies.

I am very excited about visiting the blogs of all the new shredders.  This weekend I will add each of them to my blogroll.  We need to drive traffic to each other's blogs to help with the accountability factor.   Spread the word!

Until tomorrow…

Mission 1, Day 54: What a day!

December 19, 2007 By Michael Mahony Leave a Comment

First and foremost, no podcast yet today.  I promise I will upload it tomorrow (Wednesday).  I recorded it and didn't like the way it came out so I need to take the time to re-record it.

Today was a very busy day.  I spent the day trying to figure out how to make a report work and how to get the data out of the database.  To deal with the stress, I hit the gym two times today.

At 3 a.m. I did a rather lackluster workout by my standards.  I was very disappointed with how my workout went.

 Exercise  Weight/Reps
 Incline DB Bench Press 65 x 5

100 x 5
100 x 5

 Swiss Ball Crunches 16

I did 30 minutes of HIIT on the stationary bike and called it a day–or so I thought.

In the middle of the day I put away the report and went to the gym for another HIIT session.  This time I got on the elliptical trainer for 30 minutes.  As I completed this HIIT session I reflected on the morning's workout.  While the weights I lifted were decent, I had no desire to do the workout and that's what bothered me.  Without desire things go awry quickly.  It dawned on me that a part of the problem today was that my routine in the morning was different than usual.  I've learned that routine is important.  I will have to pay attention to that in the future.

It seems my comment about a surprise has gotten some people curious.  I will say that I am definitely planning a surprise for the readers of my blog.  Unfortunately, what I have planned isn't all that unique, but it should be a good thing for me and hopefully you will all enjoy it.

Until tomorrow…

Mission 1, Day 53: Resting day again

December 18, 2007 By Michael Mahony Leave a Comment

Today was a rest day for me.  I changed things up a little due to my toe and the holiday coming up.  I am going to be working out Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday this week, then Monday, Wednesday, Friday of the following week and Monday, Wednesday, Friday of the next week.  That will get me around the holidays when the gym is open so that I don't miss a weight workout.

Today was Day 1 of Round 2 of Metabolic Surge and I find that I really do enjoy this.  As Christy said, it is spartan-like and I enjoy that alot.  I have found that celery and lettuce really do give me alot of energy for a very little bit of calories.  I'm enjoying eating my protein with those veggies.  It just makes sense to me now that I've been doing it for a few weeks.  I figure that if I'm going to be in the best possible shape I can by February 3, 2008, I'd better stick to this nutrition plan.

I had a meeting today that was scheduled for 2 hours and it ended up lasting for 4 hours.  I was guiding the team through planning for 2008 and we just had to continue until we were done.  The planning was great and everyone is now very focused on doing great things in 2008.

I am looking forward to my 5 x 5 workout tomorrow morning.  The podcast will be uploaded tomorrow.  I am putting the finishing touches on it tonight.  I might even have another little surprise at some point this week.  You will have to see it for yourself (literally).

Until tomorrow…

Mission 1, Day 52: Stats don’t lie

December 17, 2007 By Michael Mahony 0 Comments

Today was the day I do my measurements and it is always an exciting day for me.  I love to see the results I've produced and I've even learned to enjoy the discovery of bad results just so that I can modify my plan of attack if necessary. The results today are as follows:

 Item  Measurement
 Current Weight (lbs)  226
 Previous Weight (lbs)     227
 Goal Weight (lbs)  230
 Variance to previous (lbs)     -1
 Variance to goal (lbs)  -4
 Current Body Fat %      15.5%
 Previous Body Fat %  16.0%
 Goal Body Fat %  16.6%
 Variance to previous  -0.5%
 Variance to goal  -1.0%
 Current LBM (lbs)  190.97
 Previous LBM (lbs)  190.68
 Goal LBM (lbs)  192.05
 Variance to previous (lbs)  +0.29
 Variance to goal (lbs)  -1.37

This is the lowest my weight has been since my back surgery and my body fat percentage continues to drop.  The change I made in going to the Metabolic Surge nutrition plan is working for me.

I will be posting a new podcast tomorrow night.  Look for that.

Until tomorrow…

Mission 1, Day 51: Run son

December 16, 2007 By Michael Mahony 0 Comments

I got up very early this morning, at 3:30 a.m., to handle my workout because I knew I had a busy day ahead of me.  I did 45 minutes of HIIT style cardio using Cardio Coach.  It is a great program that I highly recommend.

I made it a point to really plan out my meals today and that went well.  I was able to eat right all day long.  I believe that tomorrow when I do my stats my weight is going to be down a little again.

I am honestly just very tired and can't think straight.  I am off to bed in an hour so this is all I have to say for the day.

Put your best foot forward every day.  Some days that best foot will be better than others, but as long as it is the best you have to offer you aren't cheating yourself.

Here's to great results!

Until tomorrow…
